Principles of Success

Since 1990 The Ranch Program has inspired hundreds of seriously at-risk teenagers, ages 13 to 17, to be the best they can be no matter what obstacles they may face in life. A unique, nonprofit motivational program, The Ranch is based in Sturgeon Lake, Minnesota on 200-acres of land.

Program Summary

THE RANCH Program is designed to teach, and have students put into practice, the principles needed to overcome handicaps and achieve their goals in life with pride.

To accomplish this, students must train to go on a very complicated mission. Before they start training however, they must first learn 4 important principles for success. These principals are the foundation of our program. Once the students learn them, they can begin training.

From learning to drive a school bus on the driving course to flying a plane on the real fight simulator, students will need to be trained on a number of challenging assignments, all of which they will need to complete their mission.

The training itself consists of 2 / 4 day sessions that take place different times of the year for each group. As long as the students show that they are putting the principals of success into practice both during the training sessions and in the school they attend back home, they can continue to train. Once they have completed 2 training sessions, they are selected to be on a team called The Cobra Unit and are now eligible to go on the mission which is run in the summer. If students successfully complete the mission in the time given, they will receive their Cobra Jacket and the Ranch Ring.

Earning the Ranch Ring is the goal of all the students who participate in our program. Weather he be hearing imparted, is struggling to overcome the effects of poverty, or is trying to shake the effects of an unstable home life, wearing the ranch ring is a constant reminder to students that if they apply certain principals to their lives, they can overcome any handicap and be successful at what they do. Yes, even go on a mission as difficult as this.
